Fortunately, the ERSC Ottobrunn only lacks a roof over the ice stadium at Haidgraben

Fortunately, the ERSC Ottobrunn only lacks a roof over the ice stadium at Haidgraben

BY HARALD HETTICH

Ottobrunn goalkeeper David Bode only briefly buried and defused the shot from the Riesserseer, who would inevitably have struck the corner of the goal without his catching hand snapped up at lightning speed. In order to prevent a bully in the defense third of the Ottobrunner U17, he releases the black hard rubber washer of his goalkeeper's trowel to captain Leon Fertl just as quickly in his own defense. Short pass to Fertl's defense partner Moritz Mayer, who then sends the puck to Sturm playmaker Maxi Zirngibl. Smart pass inside and Michi Wonneberger executes ice cold to one of his almost 50 goals this season.

Cheers at the Haidgraben. ERSCO defeated the big favorites of the Peissenberg / Riessersee consortium 3-2 after a thrilling fight and underpinned their lead in the youth regional league.

The scene from the so important top game of the first against the second in the league symbolizes the formidable season of the U17 and the youth teams overall at the strongly booming ERSC Ottobrunn. Three days before the end of the season, the oldest offspring from Ottobrunn are up for the championship. With a current four point lead over the competition from the Rießersee, after a successful away match with the strong fourth in Miesbach, the championship celebration could soon be on their own ice in the home game against the ninth SG Bad Wörishofen / Germering (Friday, March 6, 8:15 p.m., Haidgraben) ,

But that's not all: the U15 still has a good chance of winning championships. The U9 and U11 also play successfully in the highest age group leagues. Because of a true “run” on the ice surface at Haidgraben, even second teams were formed. Only the still very young U13 are physically inferior in their league as the bottom of the league.

But here, too, those responsible look at it in perspective. At ERSCO, fun in ice sports and team building are paramount. Ice hockey, which internalizes a successful young team like the U17 of the ERSC Ottobrunn due to the club's agenda, is a team spirit. "For us, the star is always the team," explains Martin Mayer, who as the U17 coach, together with Stefan Krumbiegel, set the young cracks on the road to success.

"However, a championship title now envisaged before the season could not be expected if you look at the strong competition in the Bavarian youth district league with traditional clubs and game communities such as Rießersee, Schweinfurt, Pfronten or Selb". But with the successful Ottobrunner offspring, the team spirit goes far beyond the season games. “Already during the condition pin, which was not popular with ice hockey players in summer, the boys were keen to take part and got the basics to turn some difficult games with great physique and morale in the final third. An important aspect here: The boys are not “just” a team. “Here friendships have grown beyond sport. A team that includes the players and coaches as well as organizational manager Barbara Wallek and “supervisor legend” Mario Fertl. The U17, as a real up-and-coming forge, is also involved in the concept of Michael Schneidawind, who, according to Mayer, is "very up-and-coming friendly trainer" (who stops / we reported). With his first team, the young wild ones can also participate in addition to their own fixed training cycle with three units per week. Of course, the parents also play an important role as a pool of sponsors for the equipment, which costs around € 1,500 each, for trips, training camps and the necessary ice ages in the distance.

Speaking of ice ages. This is where the shoe at the successful club has been pressing hardest for years. "Unfortunately, there is no Bayern League ice hockey without a roof over your head," says coach Mayer drastically, that the U17 on Ottobrunn free ice may not rise despite the championship. “The season there starts six weeks earlier before ice is even available in Ottobrunn. That is not feasible. ”Ice hockey department head Sven Rumswinkel is clear. "We are known for our good work beyond the borders of the region", he is pleased on the one hand. But due to the lack of infrastructure, despite the "insane commitment" of all volunteers, there are also clear limits. “Unfortunately, everything is slowed down by the lack of a roof. Something has to happen, absolutely, and soon, ”the ERSCO ice hockey boss demands in the direction of those responsible in the community. "I do not want to imagine what will happen if the roof does not become a reality soon", Rumswinkel fears for grown structures and symbioses. Also important in order to be able to keep the talented youngsters of the U17 - all with local players - in Ottobrunn. This requires sporting perspectives that arise from suitable framework conditions. So that wonderful moves like the great match against Rießersee can still be seen on the Haidgraben in the future.
