HSV against St. Pauli - for some a football festival, for others a nightmare. The police are challenged to the highest degree and must be on guard the night before.

Hamburg (dpa) - Twice a year there is an alarm mood in Hamburg's football. Then everyone knows: it is a city derby. This is now the fourth time in a row.

Since Hamburger SV has relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga, there have been more dreaded than longed-for meetings with the neighboring FC St. Pauli. On Saturday (1:00 p.m. / Sky) it is again: risk game!

The police are already training in the Volkspark Stadium, where the game will be played. She pulled up with several team cars to practice the procedures in an emergency. Randale wants to nip her in the bud. The advantage this time: kick-off is at noon at 1 p.m. in the widely visible Volkspark. Unlike the last derby. At that time, both clubs met on Monday evening at 8.30 p.m. in the Millerntor Stadium. Most of the time there was only a shake of the head. The rival fans marched through the dark, narrow streets in the neighborhood, where the police had trouble keeping an eye on everything.

"I would find it a shame if it does not remain peaceful in the stands," said HSV idol Uwe Seeler of the "Bild" newspaper before the Saturday game. The police are back on strict separation of the fan groups as soon as they arrive. Therefore, the planned march of the St. Pauli fans has to switch to a new route so that they do not come across the HSV supporters, who are also approaching the stadium together. Now HSV fans are marching from the north to the Volkspark Stadium, those of FC St. Pauli are from the south.

The police are already in action prior to the game. For Friday evening, the Ultras of both clubs announced a so-called "warm up" in the neighborhood. Provocative slogan of the HSV fans, who want to gather in pubs in the district: "The neighborhood in blue-white-black hand". The St. Pauli camp meets near the Millerntor stadium. Around 1500 police officers will be deployed around the risk game for two days.

Alcohol is prohibited in the stadium - and of course there is no pyro. However, it is doubted whether both sides adhere to it. For the HSV Ultras in particular, it is a kind of nail test. At the nationwide first approved and monitored pyro show in the stadium, they had kept to the agreements two weeks ago and accompanied the burning of smoke pots with a flag choreography. After that, everyone was full of praise. In a survey, 89 percent of the supporters had opted for further controlled pyro campaigns.

St. Pauli President Oke Göttlich has a hard time imagining that a derby can take place without pyrotechnics. For the events in autumn 2019, the HSV and St. Pauli should pay 90,000 euros in fines. The verdict is not yet legally binding. The DFB control committee demanded 200,000 and 120,000 euros. At the derby half a year earlier, the extremely dangerous fire games in the audience blocks cost HSV 150,000 and FC St. Pauli 120,000 euros. "If there are penalties, yes, then we will probably have to wear them, as reluctant we do," said Göttlich in an NDR interview.
