Adil Rami did not remain long without a club: the 2018 world champion, who terminated his contract on Friday with the Turkish club Fenerbahçe, will discover the Championship of Russia in the jersey of Sochi.
Sochi FC, the red lantern of the Russian Championship, did not specify in its press release published on Saturday the duration of the contract signed by the central defender, but according to the specialized press, Rami, 34, has signed up to the end of the season.
Last August, Rami was dismissed for serious misconduct by Marseille, his club since 2017, for having notably participated in a television program without the agreement of his club. He had immediately joined Fenerbahçe, who had made him sign a one-year contract with an option for an additional season. But he never managed to win on the banks of the Bosphorus, taking part in only seven matches, including six in the Turkish Cup.
Rami, 36 caps in the France team, made his professional debut in Lille in 2006. He then went through Spain (Valencia, Seville) and Italy (AC Milan).
FC Sochi, the result of the move from Dinamo to Saint Petersburg, made its debut this season in the Russian elite. The club, owned by billionaire Boris Rotenberg, close to President Vladimir Putin, is four points behind the first non-relegation.
