Freiburg (dpa) - Three days after the act of violence by Hanau, DFB President Fritz Keller announced racists to fight and warned of the dangers in today's society.

"It is obviously time again when people need enemy images to get rid of their hatred. But in football, in the stadium, in sports, hatred, xenophobia and racism have no chance," said the 62-year-old Keller in an ARD interview before the Bundesliga game between SC Freiburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Keller had already appealed on Thursday: "We are shocked and stunned by this senseless act of violence. It is the next urgent warning that we all have to stand together against hatred and racism, against every form of discrimination - whether on the stadium grandstand, on the street or on the Internet."

A 43-year-old German shot nine people with foreign roots in Hanau on Wednesday evening. The marksman also killed his 72-year-old mother and then himself. According to previous knowledge, the perpetrator had a racist outlook and was mentally ill.
