Palzing - SVA Palzing has nothing to lose when the district league starts in the last third of the season in March. "We did not have the promotion last year on the bill," says coach Sepp Summerer and thought: "If we stay together, we will also get a league higher." This looseness can be the trump card in the relegation battle.
The palzing review of the past football year begins in the summer of 2018. When the SVA started the past league season, no one in the club was aware of how good the team was. The season goal was a midfield. But then the team from trainer Summerer triumphed. Experienced players such as goalkeeper Markus Weinbacher (22 goals) played perhaps the best season of their career and young talents such as Louis Goldbrunner (eleven goals), who was only 17 at the beginning of the season, showed performances that could not be expected.
In the first half of the season, the SVA remained undefeated and scored 35 out of 39 possible points. Only Sportfreunde Schwaig kept up, but they were already six points behind the SVA at the turn of the year. During the winter break, Summerer thought of the ascent for the first time: "When we won the last game before the winter break and did a good preparation, I knew that it could be something."
And then the Palzinger started with seven victories from the winter break. The lead on the Schwaig runners-up increased to eleven points. The dominance of his team was also surprising for Summerer. A possible explanation: “Schwaig was in rhythm. We have always remained compact and have continued our run from before the winter break, ”said the trainer. Four games before the end, the SVA had the chance to make the championship clear in the home game against FC Langengeisling. So early that the club wasn't prepared for it. SVA spokesman Wolfgang Aumann emphasized that neither master shirts nor champagne are planned. "To my knowledge, no tent has yet been set up," said Aumann before the game.
Too bad, because after a double set by Marcel Radlmaier the Palzinger won 2-0 against Langengeisling, a team that Summerer had classified as one of the best teams in the league "before the season. The climb with his youth club was a huge success for the 64-year-old coach. "Who would have believed that before, that's a great moment," said Summerer.
In the early years of his coaching career, he had led TSV Eching from the Landesliga to the Bayernliga and spoke from experience when he said to his players: “Enjoy it all. It was such a great season. ”The Palzinger agreed that there was a league higher for those who can only stay in the league. "That is another house number. This year we played against district leagues in preparation, they were superior to us, ”said Summerer in an interview after the promotion. And further: "And nobody moves that easily, not even because Palzing is suddenly playing in the district league." He was hoped by the performance improvement of his players: "We have developed this season. It is so when everyone is fit and does not get injured, we have a realistic chance. ”The crux of the matter was that not everyone remained fit. In the preparation, the rising hero Weinbacher was injured. Summerer let his contacts play and convinced Thomas Eckmüller to move to Palzing. Eckmüller and Summerer have a friendship despite the age difference of over 30 years. The striker had once made the leap into the senior field under Summerer in Freising and scored 15 goals in his first national league season. He then played and met for the Bayern league teams Heimstetten and Buchbach, among others.
And Eckmüller knew the district league as a player coach of FC Finsing. "Thomas is a striker who can hit double digits in a season if he is fit," said Summerer. However, Eckmüller was also injured. "And that is why we had to start the season without a regular striker," said coach Summerer. Palzing landed hard. The SVA started with three defeats and scored the first point on matchday four in the draw in Rohrbach. A week later the first victory was achieved in Eichstätt (4: 1). On matchday seven, Eckmüller scored three times in the 5-0 away win against Turkish SV Ingolstadt.
Thereafter, home defeats and away wins alternated until the twelfth matchday. Until the winter break, the Palzinger scored 19 points. They thus occupy the best of the three direct relegation places. The relegation places are one, the safe relegation three points away.
Curious: The Palzingern have not yet won at home. They got their only point in the derby against the newcomer and current third in the table Schwaig (2: 2). For this, the SVA presents itself extremely strong (18 points). Only Rohrbach (19) is better across the league. "We have arrived in the league. Now we want to take the next step and win at home, ”says Summerer.
For this he works with his players in winter preparation. It started on February 10th. “It will be six intensive weeks. We now know where we are and where we need to improve, ”said Summerer. And further: "We want to act courageously and aggressively, but still defend compactly. In the first five games after the break, we face four direct competitors. Then we will know where we are. ”Summerer will do everything to stay in the class. “I've been retired since the beginning of the year and now have time to do sports myself, to read a book. And I can deal with the preparation even more intensely. "
