Dallas (dpa) - The German national basketball players Maximilian Kleber and Daniel Theis have led their teams to victories with new career best in the NBA.
The 28-year-old Würzburger Kleber scored 26 points at 122: 106 (64:52) of his Dallas Mavericks at the Orlando Magic and improved his previous record in the North American elite league by two points. The top scorer in the 34th season win of the Texans was once again the Slovenian Luka Doncic with 33 points, ten rebounds and eight assists.
"I've probably never had an evening like this in the NBA," said Kleber. The winger also received praise from Dallas coach Rick Carlisle: "He gave us a huge boost in the fourth quarter." The Mavs are in seventh place in the Western Conference.
Daniel Theis also made a gala appearance after the NBA All Star break with the Boston Celtics. The 27-year-old achieved an impressive double-double at 127: 117 (61:53) in the Minnesota Timberwolves with 25 points and 16 rebounds. For the Celtics, third in the Eastern Conference, it was the ninth victory in the past ten games.
Playmaker Dennis Schröder scored 11 points and five rebounds in 113: 101 (48:48) of his Oklahoma City Thunder against Denver Nuggets. The team from Braunschweig is tied with the Mavericks in the west.
The Washington Wizards with Isaac Bonga and Moritz Wagner, on the other hand, suffered a setback in the battle for the playoff spots. The team from the US capital lost 108: 113 (66:61) against the Cleveland Cavaliers and is eighth behind in eighth place in the east ninth. Bonga scored five points, Wagner marked four points.
