Rasnov (dpa) - Ski jumper Karl Geiger just missed the second World Cup victory in 24 hours. The 27-year-old Allgäuer came second after jumps at 99.5 and 96 meters in the Romanian Rasnov and only had to surrender to the Austrian Stefan Kraft (103 and 97.5 meters).
In the permanent duel for the overall World Cup, Kraft expanded his pad again by 20 points, his lead over Geiger is now 118 points. Third day place went to German youngster Constantin Schmid, who made it onto the podium for the first time in a World Cup single.
The other German starters also made it into the second round. Stephan Leyhe (7th), three-time Seefeld world champion Markus Eisenbichler (14th) and Pius Paschke (21st) also received World Cup points. Severin Freund came back into the second round for the first time after a break of almost 14 months and finished 29th. The next weekend the ski jumpers in Lahti in Finland will be challenged.
