Winterberg (dpa) - In the absence of some top riders, Johannes Ludwig from Oberhof secured the third win of the season at the controversial toboggan World Cup in Winterberg.
The 34-year-old improved to fourth place in the overall classification. Ludwig is no longer an option for the overall victory. On the shortened course Ludwig won two good runs ahead of Kristers Apartjos (Latvia) and team-mate Sebastian Bley (Suhl). In contrast to the women, there were some falls in the men's race, but they all went off lightly.
The overall World Cup leader Roman Repilow, Felix Loch, some Americans and the Austrian team had not started because of the bad track conditions.
