Strong performance by young ski racer Christopher Holm: on the World Cup slope in Lenggries, he set the best time of the day.

Miesbach / Lenggries - Undisturbed by the capricious weather, the annual highlight of the alpine school elite in the Oberland on Sunday took place on the Lenggries World Cup slope. While the Brauneck lift had to stop operating in the morning because gusts of over 100 km / h swept over the summits of Lenggries' local mountain, even the big flags hardly moved on the race track, as the so-called giant slalom with large radii, a camouflaged one Super G, took place in two rounds.

It is in the nature of things that ski racers like to go fast. And that happens particularly quickly when there are as few “obstacles” in the way as possible, i.e. goal flags with changes of direction, such as with the Super G. In order to prepare the young Oberlanders for the “new” driving style, there was a special training session at the World Cup on Saturday -Hang that was used extensively by the around 110 participants. "Some of them were a little surprised when they realized how fast it was going to be," said ex-ski ace Martina Ertl-Renz, who had her daughter Romy at the start.

Thanks to a precaution on Saturday evening, the young ski racers found an excellent piste despite the non-winter temperatures of up to 16 degrees. "We salted a lot there, and it worked well," said Karl Gerg, head of SC Lenggries. Klaus Ertl, the up-and-coming head coach at the Oberland Ski Association (SVO), also confirmed this: "It is almost impossible to get any better for the almost unusual winter." He was particularly satisfied with the racing performance of his fast girls, while he was still very happy with the boys Saw potential for improvement.
