3rd in Ligue 2, the northern club inducted Franck Haise, current coach of the Lensoise reserve, at the head of the Sang et Or.

The Racing Club de Lens, 3rd in Ligue 2 and candidate for the rise in the elite of French football, announced Tuesday the dismissal of its coach Philippe Montanier. “The Lens Racing Club has decided to suspend Philippe Montanier and part of his technical staff from today. Until further notice, the responsibility of the group will be entrusted to Franck Haise, current coach of the Lensoise reserve, "announced the Sang et Or in a statement sent Tuesday.

Fall champion but ...

Arrived in Pas-de-Calais a year and a half ago, the former Rennes coach had failed to raise his team last season, failing in play-offs against Dijon (1-1, 1-3 ). The club's stated objective, whose operating costs do not coincide well with Ligue 2 and which has invested a lot this summer, the return to the elite seemed to be taking shape after a very good start to the season. The Artesians thus won the honorary title of autumn champion in December.

But the dynamic had clearly reversed in recent weeks, the Sang et Or winning only one of their last seven games and remaining on two defeats against Châteauroux (2-3) and Caen (1-4). Now third behind AC Ajaccio, they are no longer in a position to climb directly. Lens did not specify the duration of Franck Haise's mission. The first match under his orders is scheduled for Monday against Paris FC.
