Pipinsried / Olching - What do Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Remy Bonjaski and the team of Bayern League leader FC Pipinsried have in common? Nothing at first glance, nothing at all. Ali and Tyson were boxing world champions, Bonjasky is and was probably the most famous K1 fighter in the world. But what connects Pipinsried people to these martial arts icons?

The question is quickly resolved. As part of their preparation for the spring series, the FCP footballers paid a visit to the Manzau-Boxing gym in Olching - and the players had the opportunity to complete a sparring round against a kickboxing vice world champion.

The kickers were coached by Tom Manzau, who recently entered the professional boxing business. Manzau pushed the players of the best team in the Bayernliga Süd to their physical limits. In a very sweaty unit, in which calories were burned just by watching, everything was there, from a very intensive warm-up phase to special, but also general boxing exercises.

“These exercises are an ideal addition to football training. It is something completely different because it puts stress on muscle groups that are otherwise very rarely used, ”explains FCP trainer Fabian Hürzeler the trip to the boxing gym.

And after the training session, the struggled players had to overcome another hurdle: Kickbox Vice World Champion Benny Rauch was waiting for the struggled kickers in the ring. A young player of the yellow-blue team gathered all courage and climbed into the ring, equipped with a powerful head protection.

Timon Kuko offered an appealing performance in the three minutes, of course he did not bring the Champ into distress. This, too, was good for Kuko. However, this was not surprising, since Rauch is also the supervisor of the Pipinsried team. And so that the boys around the two FCP coaches don't get too bored, another boxing unit is on the program this Thursday before the next test match in Illertissen on Saturday.

The spring series of the Bayernliga season 2019/2020 starts on Saturday, March 7th, with an absolute hit, because then FC Pipinsried starts at 2 p.m. with the first chase FC Deisenhofen.
