New job for Erding's ice hockey legend John Samanski

The 57-year-old Erdinger coach takes over the Bayern league team EHF Passau.

However, the 57-year-old is not yet available this week. He is currently in his Canadian homeland where his son Joshua plays in the Ontario Hockey League. “I can watch five games. Of course, I can also visit my mother and siblings on the side, ”says the father of seven, who has been living in Kirchasch with his family for several years.

He has been watching the Passauer games for years, says Samanski. "They always have a good team", he also appreciates the club managers: "They want to achieve something." He considers the Black Hawks to be a "robust team with enough dangerous players. And the spectators support their team wonderfully. ”

He takes the driving - from Kirchasch to Passau a good 165 kilometers - for "this demanding task with pleasure". His family also had his back free. “My wife always supports me, if I want to do that, she is not in the way. I am looking forward to the new task ”- which will not be easy.

The Passau have lost five times in a row. This was a reason for the dismissal of her previous coach, the EHF officials said. The second: Feilmeier, who was behind the gang at ESC Dorfen from 2015 to 2017, announced to the team immediately before the home game against Landsberg (2: 4) that he would stop at the end of the season. The association then terminated the contract with immediate effect.

At the last two interlocking games in Sonthofen and against Waldkraiburg, sporting director Christian Zessack and new signing Christoph Gawlik will do the coaching work. Next Monday, Samanski, who has worked as a coach for a total of four years in Dorfen and two years in Erding and most recently without a job, will take over the Black Hawks to prepare them for the playoffs. There the Passauer could meet the gladiators in the quarterfinals. The decision will be made on Sunday.
