Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The German Football Association (DFB) has received a shit storm on an unfortunately shortened tweet on the topic of racism and has then spoken again.
"Your comments are justified. Our tweet shortened a statement by Jimmy Hartwig and thus gave the wrong impression," wrote the association in a further answer.
A few hours earlier, the DFB had summarized its own online interview on the subject of racism with the integration ambassador on Twitter with the statement: "If you are in the stadium and hear these calls, then approach these people and tell them: We want to watch football! " As a result, numerous Twitter users subsequently reported and harshly criticized the DFB for the contribution.
In the second post, the association therefore once again explicitly referred to Hartwig's statements "on the subject of racism in football in full length". "If you notice racist statements in the stadium, make it clear to these people that there is no place for this in football or in our society, and / or contact the security staff," the DFB said.
