VfB Hallbergmoos has withdrawn from the cup. The team lost 1-2 in a duel between two national league teams at FC Sonthofen.
Hallbergmoos - VfB Hallbergmoos stumbled at the last hurdle. On Saturday there was a 1: 2 (0: 2) defeat at 1. FC Sonthofen in the final game of the qualification for the Toto Cup 2020/21, which would not have been necessary. Two cheap goals within 60 seconds were too much to go on.
Sonthofen came into the game much better, from the 10th minute VfB was also present. A devastating 60 seconds followed which decided the game. At the first goal, the Hallbergmoosers served the hosts on a golden tray with a short pass back to the goalkeeper. A little later, VfB hit number two because the defense was once again completely indisposed. Until the break it was deserved 2-0 for the Allgäu. The home team invested more in a not too exciting game, in which goal scenes were rather rare.
The Hallbergers grew in the second half and quickly got their encouragement. In the 50th minute Andi Kostorz slammed a torpedo bullet into the mesh to make it 1-2 and everything was open again. VfB still had enough time for a second goal, which is now investing more. Despite more possession of the ball, however, not too many goal finishes came out. Malcom Olwa-Luta had the great chance of late 2-2 and a possible penalty shootout in the 80th minute. He came to the end completely free five meters before the goal, but put the ball a few centimeters next to the post. That was it in the first competitive game in 2020, and the Hallberger had a rather used leap day. Even the ten-minute majority after a yellow-red card from the opponent did not help much.
Coach Gedi Sugzda saw two teams at eye level, "but we made one mistake too much and that's annoying." For the coach, the first competitive game after the winter break was "a reflection of the preliminary round". That is also what is missing from an absolute top team of the state league. After the game, Sugzda did not take refuge in the phrase that the cup was not so important after all: "I would have loved to get ahead."
