Bayern's basketball players are returning to success in the Bundesliga thanks to a strong third quarter. Brose Bamberg gets under the wheels in Berlin - and promoted Hamburg is still waiting for the first home win after the ninth attempt.
Munich (dpa) - 18th victory in the 20th game: The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have returned to success in the Bundesliga.
After the unexpected 81:90 defeat in the previous Bundesliga game at BG Göttingen, coach Oliver Kostic's team prevailed in the top game against EWE Baskets Oldenburg with 79:58 (29:41). This means that Munich still have two victories ahead of the MHP giant Ludwigsburg, who had no problems at 79:54 at Fraport Frankfurt.
Two days after the first Euroleague victory outside of Germany (77:68 at Zenit St. Petersburg), the Bavarians had a bad start and were already in double figures after a few minutes (4:14). As a result, the Munich team remained weak and went halfway with a twelve-point deficit.
"We are much too careless. Oldenburg is doing well, but we just have to play more concentrated," said Bayern international Danilo Barthel on "Magentasport" during the break. And suddenly the game toppled. The German champions won the third quarter 25: 1, took a two-digit lead for themselves and could not miss the lead. The top scorer of the game was Munich's Paul Zipser with 15 points.
Cup winner Alba Berlin celebrated a clear 107:70 win in the home game against former series champion Brose Bamberg and, with a record of 14: 4 wins, regained third place in the table from Hakro Merlins Crailsheim (14: 6). Bamberg's new signing, former NBA professional Jordan Crawford, came to eleven points in 20 minutes.
