Coronavirus: ASVEL limits the number of places at the Astroballe to maintain its home matches

2020-03-01T18:18:09.860Z

The Lyon-Villeurbanne club has decided to increase the capacity of the Astroballe to 4,500 spectators only to circumvent the government decision and thus be able to play home games.

The coronavirus epidemic will not disrupt the ASVEL calendar in the long term. While the government has decided to ban gatherings of more than 5,000 people in confined spaces to limit the risk of the virus spreading, Tony Parker 's club has found a solution. In order to allow the next two matches to be held at the Astroballe, which has a capacity of 5,560 seats, the directors decided to limit the number of tickets for sale to 4,500.

On Tuesday March 3, against Valence in the Euroleague, then on Sunday March 8 against Le Mans in the championship, the Villeurbannais will be able to play in their hall. The leaders of the Jeep Elite announced the news in a press release specifying that this decision had been taken "in agreement with the Prefecture of the Rhône."

Jeep Elite meeting affected by government decision

This good news for the supporters comes a few hours after the postponement of the shock of the championship between Lyon-Villeurbanne and Monaco. The meeting, which was to tarnish this Sunday in a packed Astroballe, was, like several sporting events, postponed. Saturday, only the match, Strasbourg-Le Portel, which was to bring together at least 5000 people, was struck by the government directive. All the other meetings of the 24th day, with the exception of Villeurbanne-Monaco, therefore, were able to be held normally.

⚠ The next two games scheduled at the Astroballe, Tuesday March 3 against Valence in EuroLeague, then Sunday March 8 against Le Mans in Jeep® ELITE are maintained
