What many feared is now a reality: EA Schongau has to go into the play-downs. As of next Friday, the team will be dealing with everything or nothing.
Schongau - You are also spared nothing: EA Schongau had looked optimistically at the last games of the intermediate round "relegation" in the Bayern League - after all, almost all injuries were cured. And yet the squad was painfully reduced again on Friday evening against ERV Schweinfurt. "Now we have a flu wave," says team manager Martin Resch. Jakub Muzik, Friedrich Weinfurtner, Willy Knebel and Richard Schratt had to pass. "This season we will take everything that comes with us," says Resch.
Loss on Friday against Schweinfurt
Unfortunately, the points too rarely. It didn't work on Friday either. In the catch-up game against Schweinfurt - the first game was canceled due to the collapse of Milan Kopecky - the "Mammuts" lost 2: 4 in front of their own audience.
The Schongauer had actually gotten into the game quite well. At first both teams felt themselves a bit, were good in the back. So there were few chances to score. And no hit in the first third.
In the second phase of the game, according to Resch, the EAS had “slight game advantages and an opportunity plus”. And yet it was the Schweinfurters who met. Oleg Seibel gave the guests the lead.
The ERV then pulled away in the last third. Jeff Murray with two goals and Semjon Bär increased the lead to 4-0. “They just used their few opportunities well. They were freezing in front of the gate, ”says Resch. "Unfortunately we don't. We had a good grip on the game. But Schweinfurt countered well. ”Schongau stayed on and scored two goals through Jeffrey Szwez. But that didn't change anything about the defeat.
The flu wave also causes problems on Sunday
Things didn't go better for the “Mammuts” on Sunday either. On the contrary: the flu had decimated the squad even further. And so the team received a 2: 6 loss to EHC Königsbrunn.
This made it clear what many had expected: Things are getting serious for EA Schongau. She has to fight relegation in the play-downs. The opponent is the ESC Dorfen. The relegation will be determined from next Friday in the "Best of Five" mode.
A detailed report on the Sunday game follows.
