Altenberg (dpa) - Bob pilot Francesco Friedrich won the title in a four-man bobsleigh in a finale that is hard to beat at the World Championships in Altenberg.
A week after winning the two-man bobsleigh, the 29-year-old local hero from BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg referred Johannes Lochner from Stuttgart (0.05 seconds back) and his club colleague Nico Walther (0.23) to the in a total time of 3: 36.09 minutes next podium places. With the ninth world championship title, Friedrich caught up with Italy's only record world champion Eugenio Monti.
Friedrich and Walther were already in first place before the exciting final round, Lochner followed in third place with a hundredth of a second behind. After the first two runs, the first five sledges were only nine hundredths apart. Justin Kripps from Canada, who was in fourth place with Friedrich at the same time, had to do without the final races due to a muscle fiber tear.
