Tölzer Löwen lose 2: 3 nP in Dresden and compete with Heilbronn in the play-offs.

Dresden / Bad Tölz – The opponent for the coming weeks was no longer shaken because of the events on the last matchday and the 1: 2 nP defeat in Dresden. But now it is clear: The Tölzer Löwen will start their play-off quarterfinals the Friday after next with the Heilbronner Falken.

It was one of those evenings when mobile devices ran at full speed in the stadiums. There was never a lack of tension. Who will reach the play-offs? Who has to take the detour? Which teams have to go into purgatory relegation round? The constellations were too diverse to enumerate, shaken from their sleeves. It could be of no importance to the Tölzer. They were already standing with both legs in the championship round; the theoretically possible home right would have been a treat.

On the Dresden side, however, the situation was a little different. There was a risk of being admitted to the relegation relegation quartet. It was clear that the faces grew even longer when Shawn Weller sank a coexistence of Tyler McNeely and Lubor Dibelka with the first attack of the guests to score the lead. But the ice lions seemed to know what it was about. In the very first power play, Mario Lamoureux equalized 1-1 with Maxi Franzrebs Schoner. Weller's controversy with Steven Hanusch, after which the Tölzer also collided with the Linesman, ended lightly.

Dresden's leading goal through a deflected shot by Thomas Pielmeier was for some time the last real highlight of a game in which the Tölz increasingly lost access, although the remaining interim results meanwhile opened the way towards fourth place. Dibelka still had the best chance to equalize. “The Dresdeners showed that they definitely don't want to go to the playdowns,” comments Kevin Gaudet. "You can tell Dresden has to come, they keep pushing," said Philipp Schlager during the break interview. The captain's recommendation for the final chord: "Keep standing well in your own zone, just play, and maybe get one or two in front."

Almost worked. Max French hit the puck so brilliantly on the crossbar that the referees subsequently secured themselves via video evidence. And when the ice lions became more and more passive towards the end, Dibelka could have made a tie again, maybe even had to. However, he delivered apologies in the remaining season at the most suitable time: his backhand shot was sunk to a fraction of a second before McNeely's final siren to 2: 2. "There was a lot of luck on our side," admits Gaudet.

In overtime, Schlager hit the goal frame before a penalty goal from Dibelka was not recognized and Petr Pohl used the irritations in favor of the ice lions.
