Merkur CUP: The largest tournament of its kind in the world

The soccer tournament for girls and boys under the age of eleven, organized by "Münchner Merkur" and its home editions as well as by the Bavarian Football Association, is the largest tournament of its kind in the world. The competition is supported by the four premium partners ESB Energie Südbayern, frostkrone, CEWE and macronstore Munich, among others. The official starting shot will be given on Tuesday, March 24th, 7 p.m., with the "Kick Off" event in Unterhaching. The clubs receive their T-shirts, balls and tournament books there. The youth leaders receive separate invitations for this.

Merkur CUP: Grand finale on July 18 in Unterhaching

In Spielkreis 9 , the circulation area of ​​“Weilheimer Tagblatt” and “Penzberger Merkur”, there are 18 boys teams in the 26th edition of the Merkur CUP - one team less than last year. An organizer is still being sought for the preliminary round, and the exact date has not yet been determined. One thing is clear: The best two teams in each group qualify for the district finals. And this tournament of the eight best teams from the game circle takes place on Saturday, May 9th. Who organizes the tournament will only decide after the preliminary round.

Last year, SV Raisting hosted the district final - and the team led by youth leader Tobias Mayr ensured that all participants had a perfectly organized day. ASV Antdorf won the tournament, second place went to ESV Penzberg. Both teams qualified for one of the four district final tournaments. The grand finale will take place for the second time in a row at SpVgg Unterhaching. The appointment is Saturday, July 18. As in 2019, boys and girls will determine their overall winners in parallel in the sports park.

In Spielkreis 6 (distribution area "Schongauer Nachrichten"), 14 teams are at the start in the preliminary round. SC Böbing and TSV Hohenpeißenberg also compete there. The preliminary round will be organized by TSV Ingenried, the date will be announced. The district finale will take place on Saturday, May 16.

The tournament for the girls-only teams comprises a total of 29 teams. One of the first preliminary rounds will take place on Sunday, April 19, in Penzberg. Six teams are at the start. The girls from SG Penzberg have been very successful at the Merkur CUP in the past years and regularly qualified for the final tournament.
