The preliminary groups for the Merkur CUP were drawn in Unterhaching on Friday evening. The tournament starts on March 24th with a kick-off event.

Landkreis - On Friday before the third division derby against the second team of FC Bayern Munich - with Mammendorfer Dirk Teschke as assistant coach of Sebastian Hoeneß - the world's largest U11 youth tournament was officially opened. At the Unterhachinger Sportalm, SpVgg President Manfred Schwabl invited all the association game leaders to draw the preliminary round groups of the individual MerkurCUP groups. The round was completed by district youth leader Jochen Fuchs and the founding father of the competition, Heinz-Peter Birkner.

After being greeted by Haching's Vice President Peter Wagstyl and MerkurCUP's overall manager Uwe Vaders, the 16 circles as well as this year's 29 girls' team, which was launched in 2013, were drawn. Torsten Horn, the technical director of the MerkurCUP, had already done a great job beforehand and ensured that the 371 U11 teams were drawn quickly and without complications.

Kick-off event on March 24th

The kick-off event for the 26th MerkurCUP edition will also take place in Unterhaching on March 24 from 7 p.m. There the clubs receive their welcome packages with T-shirts, MerkurCUP balls (for the preliminary round organizers) and current tournament booklets. Unlike in previous years, there is no obligation to attend - however: the welcome packages will only be issued on this date. If you do not come, you should hand over your package voucher to a friend of yours and report this to mail@merkurcup.com. The personal invitations to the clubs are sent to the youth leaders.

The first round at the district level will be held on May 2nd at FC Puchheim. Group 1: TSV West, SC Groebenzell, TSV Alling, FC Landsberied; Group 2: FC Puchheim, TSV Moorenweis, TSV Türkenfeld, FC Aich; Group 3: GW Gröbenzell, TSV Jesenwang, SC Oberweikertshofen, SV Puchheim; Group 4: SpVgg Wildenroth, TSV Geiselbullach, TSV Gernlinden.
