The "Raiffeisen Oberland Challenge" is the largest event of its kind in Bavaria. This year, an interesting mix of races awaits the participants.

District - In 2005 the "Raffeisen Oberland Challenge" celebrated its premiere with seven races. The running series has become the largest event of its kind in Bavaria and has become an integral part of the (sport) region. Not long, and the 16th edition begins. The starting shot is fired once again in Schaftlach (near Waakirchen) during the spring forest run there. This competition will take place on Saturday, April 18.

What is special about the "Oberland Challenge": The nine races, which are distributed from April to the end of October, offer a lot of variety - both in terms of the distances (from 4.5 km mountain running to the half marathon) and the surface (asphalt , Forest and field paths, trails). The runs are divided into the categories "Cross", "Speed" and "Extreme". In order to reach the overall ranking at the end, the athletes must have completed at least five races and at least each category once. The individual times are converted into points based on the average of the best five athletes.

Oberland Challenge: Brennauer 2019 in third place overall

Last year's overall winners were Daniel Götz from Munich, who triumphed for the third time after 2016 and 2017, and Anna Ricarda Gerlach (Eiblteam Isartal). Around 4500 participants took part. From the district, Julia Nebl (SV Söchering / 7th place) was among the top ten for women. Markus Brennauer (TSV Penzberg / 3rd), Josef Streicher (TSV Peißenberg / 7th), Armin Weiershäuser (TSV Penzberg / 8th) and M-60 winner Johannes Bornschlegl (TSV Penzberg / 10th) were among the top men With.

The Peißenberg strings had two special results: they won the category ratings for the speed and extreme runs. For the top place in the latter category, he received a huge challenge cup at the award ceremony in Gaißach. Streicher won the M-50 class unchallenged; on the second he was almost 40 points ahead. The Peißenberger was also one of those who had participated in all nine races. All "endurance runners" - there were seven in the adult category - were presented with a cake.
