The football players of TSV Altenstadt in the district league 2 want nothing to do with the relegation.

Altenstadt - "We had a squad that was too small." The shortcoming of the first round of TSV Altenstadt in the soccer district league 2 was quickly found by coach Christoph Schmitt. Again and again the Altenstadter had started with only one or two substitutes. That should change through reinforcements in winter. The Altenstadter scored 22 points from 16 games and currently occupy eighth place. The lead to the relegation zone is seven points and should continue to grow as quickly as possible.

"We don't want to have anything to do with relegation," says Schmitt of the season goal. Eggon Gashi is supposed to help with this. The attacker had left TSV before the season and moved to SpVgg Kaufbeuren in the Southwest League. Now he is coming back. In the last knocked down Gashi was used twelve times, but scored no goal. In Altenstadt, the 22-year-old was the team's top scorer last season with eight goals. "For us it is a huge reinforcement," says Schmitt. In addition, Gashi has his buddies in the Altenstadt team and therefore no start-up problems.

Altenstadt cancels training camp due to corona virus

However, it is not the only new addition to the TSV ranks. Michael Coban comes from TSV Schongau to Altenstadt. "We did not have him on the slip, but he is a good reinforcement," said the player coach. Florian Lehmann, who joined the club in the middle of the first half of the season, did all the preparation with the team and therefore "now has a different bond". For Schmitt he was a newcomer. In addition, a few senior youths who have potential are now being introduced to the men's area. Nobody left Altenstadt in winter. So the signs before the start of the second half of the season are good.

The Altenstadter, like many other teams, had canceled their training camp on Lake Garda due to concerns about the corona virus. Instead, training was carried out on the home course and on the artificial turf pitch in Schwabbruck. "The barracks also supported us and we were allowed to train there on natural grass," reports Schmitt. "The preparation is going well," he says. Participation in training is high.

Altenstadt starts the 2020 point game year without play

The focus of the exercises was to be more variable. The Altenstadter have rehearsed another game system in order to gain more chances in possession of the ball. Especially at home, Schmitt was not always satisfied with his team's appearances. It was better away away. Schmitt therefore describes the first half-series as a whole.

A good start for the second half of the season is the be-all and end-all, says Schmitt. The Altenstadter have the first game day in 2020 free of play. Then they receive the FT Jahn Landsberg. "It's a strong opponent," says Schmitt. "The game will show us where we are." Afterwards, against Fürstenfeldbruck and Maisach it is all about important points in terms of "relegation".

The situation is similar for league competitor TSV Bernbeuren.
