The Basketball Premier League administration is beginning to realize that the 2019/2020 season is lost • The burning issues on the table: Do you end a season without announcing a champion and falling, and will the minimum budget be reduced?

1. Like all over the world, Israeli basketball is also uncertain because of the Corona crisis. League leaders are still considering the possibility of continuing the season, and may extend another final week or two to the final decision beyond the date initially set (19.9), to leave one last chance at the end of the season.

Nonetheless, senior officials acknowledge that the chances are not high and understand that they may soon be forced to announce the end of the season.

If, however, the unlikely scenario exists now and the league resumes, the administration understands that it will take time to bring the foreigners back to Israel and bring players back into shape, so in that case the league is expected to start directly from the playoff phase and move to the Final Four in no time.

2. As mentioned, most of the factors in the industry understand that the 2019/20 season is likely to end soon and begin to address a number of issues.

First, the question of championing and descending. The board of directors has not yet dealt with the matter, and the intention is that only when the discussions on the announcement of the league termination will be made, decisions will also be made regarding the champion and the down.

The tests we conducted do not address the Administration's regulations for the termination of the league due to "force majeure," but in recent conversations with members of various groups it seems that there is an understanding that there will be no champion for the current season and that the down to the National League will be frozen. It is estimated that Maccabi Tel Aviv will not oppose the move, as it will play Euroleague next season.

3. Contrary to the decision of the championship winner, which has only prestigious meanings, declining decision also has significant implications for the team that emerges from the National League.

The administration continues to insist that despite the Basketball Association's announcement of two new league leagues (Benny Herzliya and Hapoel Haifa), this will not happen, but will only be one immigrant and it is Herzliya's first-ranked player at the time of the season two league announcement.

The rules of the Premier League administration explicitly state that there may not be an odd number of teams, but there is an estimate that at least one team will have trouble opening the next season in the senior league and Herzliya will be the one to take her place. If all 12 teams still manage to set the right budget for the first league, the administration will work on a solution so that Herzliya will return to the main stage of Israeli basketball.

4. Two additional proposals will be discussed by the Board of Directors if it is decided to end early this season. The first is lowering the minimum budget, due to the realization that during the recovery from the Corona crisis to municipalities, it will be difficult for the basketball teams to set high budgets, along with the assumption that players' wages are expected to decrease worldwide.

The second suggestion is to take advantage of the fact that there are no international tournaments in the summer, so it is possible to start the season sooner (options: July or August) and return to basketball and all the industry around it as quickly as possible.
