Nyon (dpa) - The European Football Championship 2020 keeps its name despite the postponement by one year. This was announced by the European Football Union after a meeting of the executive committee.
The tournament in twelve countries had been postponed due to the corona pandemic and is now scheduled to take place from June 11th to July 11th, 2021. On the one hand, the vision of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the European Championship tournament will be preserved, the umbrella organization said. UEFA also pointed out that a lot of promotional items had already been produced for the EURO 2020 that should have been destroyed if the name were changed.
