The basis is a concept developed by the Task Force "Sports Medicine / Special Game Operations", which specifies the medical and organizational framework for ghost games in the Corona crisis. However, there are other things to consider for the resumption of gaming, which politicians and health experts still have to decide.
TEAM TRAINING: The clubs assume that the players have to train regularly for at least two weeks to prepare. "The idea is that you need a minimum of training to avoid injuries," said Tim Meyer, task force chief. As a return to team training is currently not foreseeable - the DFL has not set a specific date for this - it is difficult for Werder Bremen's managing director Frank Baumann to imagine that the Bundesliga will resume playing in two weeks. "Personally, I'm skeptical that Bundesliga games will take place on May 9," he said.
GAME PLAN: If there is a green light from politics, the DFL reserves the game day with which it will continue the season. "That has not yet been decided," said Seifert. You want to make this dependent on when the ball may roll again for the first time. There are no fears of schedule clashes with European competitions, as UEFA plans to continue the Champions League and Europa League in August.
SEASON END: The goal remains to complete the 2019/20 season by June 30. "We still believe that this would also be the best date from the point of view of contractual stability, particularly with regard to employment contracts," emphasized Seifert. However, the DFL boss does not rule out an extension beyond this date: "If the season lasted until July, that would also be possible." This was also discussed with the media partners.
