Munich (dpa) - Hansi Flick is now officially head coach of FC Bayern Munich.

Almost four weeks after the agreement for further cooperation for three years by June 30, 2023, the 55-year-old signed his new contract. "Now the ink is dry!" Announced the German soccer champions. Flick therefore signed his new contract as head coach in the boardroom on Säbener Strasse.

The previous assistant coach had taken over from Niko Kovac in November and should initially look after the team until summer. "FC Bayern are very satisfied with the work of Hansi Flick. The team has developed very well under him and plays attractive football, which is also reflected in the results," said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after the agreement.

Initially, Flick was a short-term solution for two games, then one until Christmas, before he was promoted to boss at least for the current season. The former World Cup assistant to national coach Joachim Löw quickly stabilized Munich after Kovac's departure and led him back to the top of the Bundesliga.

In February Rummenigge made a letter of intent after the 3-0 win in the first class second leg at Chelsea. At the banquet, he handed Flick a pen in a "red packet" as a belated birthday present. "And with pens you sometimes also sign papers at Bayern Munich," said Rummenigge at the time. Flick's pen at the signing of the contract was now strikingly similar to Rummenigge's gift.
