Berlin (dpa) - Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) has announced "very clear decisions" for the sport in the Corona crisis for the next conference with the Prime Minister on May 6th.
Then it will be a matter of how and under what conditions "certain sporting activities" will be possible again, said Merkel after the consultations in Berlin. A decision about resuming play in the Bundesliga had previously been postponed.
At the next switch next Wednesday, the concept of the sports ministers should be evaluated, said Merkel. The interior and sports ministers had recommended resuming play in the Bundesliga in mid or late May. With a positive signal from politics, a start on May 16 or 23 is conceivable.
There will be no major events and thus games of the Bundesliga with spectators until at least August 31. "These will have to remain prohibited for a long time," said Merkel.
As President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, Alfons Hörmann sends a signal on May 6th to resume club sport. Organized sport is ready for the return, Hörmann said and added: "It would not only be important for health reasons to be able to offer more exercise again and to restart club sport within the framework of the official regulations. It is also about the mood in the Population who will benefit significantly from fun, exercise and the community experience at a responsible distance. "
