There is no coach who does not want to go to the Jerusalem Betar. There is something very special about this group's atmosphere, the audience, the relationship with the media, and those who succeed in the capital receive a sympathy that is almost unparalleled in the country. Only this role is not so simple, and few managed to stand on the lines of Teddy at three Different terms like current coach Ronnie Levy.

"One of my shortcomings as a coach is that I don't know how to separate football from private life," Levy says in an interview with Israel Today, adding: "Football is an integral part of my life, and when we don't win I don't know to act like everything is okay. That takes a lot to heart, and after losses only my granddaughter, Yehli, can soften my soul. "

Have you changed since the time of the Maccabi Haifa Championships?

"When I got Maccabi Haifa, I was 35, in a season when the team lost the Maccabi Tel Aviv Championship. In a situation like this, and when you have to show leadership in front of players my age, who have played in the Champions League before, it's not easy. These players are testing you and you need to know how to deal with them. Some of my demands were tough, but even those players realized after a few years that it made them better. To this day, I get past player pagans who have trained for me.

"In my opinion, the requirements need to be high, even if it's not nice and difficult for people. I also have to admit that as you get older, as you turn 20, you become more experienced. Today, some of the players I coach are the age of my children, so I look at them differently And they look at me differently. I still maintain seriousness, professionalism and a high level of training, and those who adapt to these rules have a very easy life with me. "

How do you see the Betar season so far?

"If you look at last season and how we started the current season - with Michael Ohana's traumatic injury, after which we opened the league in a draw and two losses, I think we overcame the very difficult situation, and then we had a lot of good games. "To me, this season is not a great success, but under the circumstances it is a beautiful season, which we also won the Toto Cup and sold while the player who was the best fit in the league."

Could it be that because of your big budget people thought you would win the championship?

"Moshe Celebrate has invested a lot of money in Betar, there is no question mark here. He has invested a lot in acquiring players, but if you look at our budget, which is respectable, it is still the fourth-largest player in the league, and a lot of the players' budget went to procurement rather than regular.

"Of course, the purchases made are a big investment by the owner and for that I thank him, but as a coach - our players' budget is pretty reasonable. We don't have anyone with unlimited wages, and you can't say we go crazy with salaries or pay sums that don't give in the market. "We have a lot of players with mediocre salaries. Whoever talked about the championship was a little overkill. A team that wants to win the championship should be ripe, and we weren't mature."

Didn't you freak out about Kinda leaving in January?

"It wasn't easy in many aspects. Gadi was very much loved in the locker room, and his abilities were excellent in all parameters - expatriates, cooking, metrics. When such a player leaves, surely after the beginning of the season we have injured an equally important player, it's a professional hit. From my place as a coach I realized that there was nothing to argue about and that it was not something I could prevent, because things were not dependent on Betar. But even if things depended on Betar and say the owner would like to make a profit or the player would like to move forward, it still wasn't easy for anyone. "

How did you manage to give the players professional quiet this season?

"It is true that in previous years there were all kinds of discipline problems and other things, but in this regard Yossi Benyun helped me a lot. The credit also comes to the players. Sometimes as a coach you come to the team and say about the beginning 'These are not serious guys, not pros', but with us the players We are very serious and we did not encounter anything unusual. "

"Intervening group owners"

Roni Levy's relationship with Benyon is another kind of connection. The professional manager insisted all the way to sign him and no other candidate, and when the team experienced a crisis and began talking about Levy's status, it was a rage that made it clear to anyone who just wanted to hear that not only did the coach continue in the team, he also remained for the next season.

"We have a lot of respect and trust between us," explains Levi, "I trust Yossi for over 100 percent and I think he is also on me. Beyond that, we see the world of football eye to eye. I really enjoy working with him, think he made the transition from actor to role The professional manager is amazing and looks forward to a great future. I have no doubt that he will go far. "

Do you see you and Bennyon as a team in the Israeli national team?

"Everything can be. If things depend on me, I see myself and Yossi elsewhere as well and for a long time, and don't rule out getting to the team, at least as far as I'm concerned. "It is mine that I like to go to places that want me and don't like to push myself too much. I hope that someday they will want me. It will be a great honor for me to be a coach of the Israeli team."

What do you think about the status of the coach in the country?

"There are interventions by owners and club leaders. It is very legitimate to express an opinion, but to a certain extent, and only with us go a little too far and the coaches have to absorb it. There are boundaries and places that should not be crossed, such as exploiting coaches who have no options and hurt them. Belongs to the coaches organization or something like that, but someday you happen to be in this issue, because things have to change. "

If an owner would ask you to give a particular player a spot in the lineup, would you leave?

"The owner may have a desire to promote certain players for one reason or another, such as a desire to sell them maybe, and that's okay to ask, but to come and drop landers for coaches on vehicles or things like that, it's unacceptable and shouldn't happen anywhere."

And how does Moses celebrate as an owner?

"Celebrating is an owner with a lot of passion, he cares and he is interested in everything. He very much loves football, and it's fun to have an owner who loves the team like that and always wants to be excited about the football. For me he is a very good owner."

Are you worried about the cut next season, the departure of senior players?

"It's a strange time for everyone. Everyone was hit by the Corona crisis, and luckily, the Erez-led administration managed to bring football back. Sometimes you need patience and waiting to see how things unfold. You don't have to make decisions and make statements, let's wait for the league to come back first. Audiences at games and things will look different financially, and maybe not. Obviously, I don't own or see things in their eye, but I think it takes a little patience. "
