Uerdingen (dpa) - Third-division soccer team KFC Uerdingen and manager Stefan Effenberg end their cooperation after a good seven months.
"Stefan Effenberg told us that we wanted to leave the club. We responded to this request," Managing Director Nikolas Weinhart said in a club announcement. "We thank him for his commitment and commitment and wish him only the best for the future."
The former national soccer player Effenberg was hired at the beginning of October 2019 as manager of the then troubled club. "It was an interesting and educational time at KFC Uerdingen. We made a lot of things together. I wish KFC good luck and success," said the 51-year-old. Details of the separation were not mentioned in the statement.
The former Bundesliga club Uerdingen was short of relegation spots with just three wins at Effenberg's signing. Before the third league season was canceled in March, the KFC was eleventh with eleven wins and 39 points.
Effenberg was also one of the short-time employees at KFC Uerdingen. This was confirmed by the ex-manager of the "Rheinische Post" on April 7th. At the end of March, the club had applied for short-time work for coaching staff, employees and office employees.
