2. Bundesliga: Serious accident at Erzgebirge Aue - BMW "flies" in a team bus - first details

Update from May 21, 11:01 p.m .: It is still unclear how the serious traffic accident could have happened. According to the police, the driver of a van wanted to overtake a truck. "He apparently overlooked the BMW driving behind him," said a police spokesman for "Bild". The BMW then pulled to the left, crashed into the central guardrail and was probably thrown from there across the road to the right.

The players would all be in shock, but FC Erzgebirge Aue  did not want to reschedule the upcoming game against Nuremberg, as President Helge Leonhart said: “We have to play and we want to. If you don't see yourself up to the situation after the accident, we of course leave it outside and would have to change accordingly. Relocation would not be an advantage, but a considerable disadvantage. The boys should sleep first, digest the shock, concentrate on the opponent and then play. "

Accident around Erzgebirge Aue: BMW rams team bus on the way to second division game - occupants injured

The BMW is said to have been traveling far too quickly and to have flown towards the bus. According to the Zwickau police, both occupants of the accident car were injured. Nothing is known about the exact state of health of the people. They are said to be around 20 years old.

The Saxons are in a respectable sixth place after the first match day of the Corona break * and the victory against Sandhausen (3: 1) and can probably plan another year for the 2nd Bundesliga. In view of the shock that the club has now suffered, they will probably think less of sports in the Ore Mountains at the moment.

Meanwhile, encouraging words came from Nuremberg. "We hope that everyone involved is doing well and that we will all face each other tomorrow at the Max Morlock Stadium," wrote Aues opponent of match day 27 * on Twitter.

Fortunately, the horror accident that ski ace Jessica Löschke suffered turned out lightly. The cross-country skier rammed her stick through the calf.
