Paris (dpa) - An unwashed T-shirt reminds tennis player Andreas Mies of his sensational final triumph in the French Open doubles.
He had his green shirt from the coup in Paris hanging in a picture frame in his living room, the 29-year-old from Cologne told the German press agency: "With the red ashes on his back".
On June 8, 2019, Mies had celebrated a Grand Slam victory with his double partner Kevin Krawietz as the first German double in 82 years. In Paris, the two prevailed in the final against Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin in two sets and then both spontaneously fell on their backs. "This is a picture for eternity. It is a moment that will always be remembered," said Mies: "It was so surreal."
