Munich (dpa) - As a professional footballer, Bastian Schweinsteiger has won the World Cup, the Champions League and the German championship several times. After an active career, the Bavarian now tries his hand in several fields:
In addition to his job as a TV expert and the leading role in a documentary that starts on Friday, the 35-year-old also went among the authors. Together with his friend Felix Neureuther, the Oberbayer published a children's book. In "Two Friends in Football Fever" the athletes tell the story of a tournament among the animals in the forest. The book was supposed to flank the right EM - but it was postponed because of the corona crisis.
"In our book you will learn important things such as fair play, willingness to help and commitment," says Schweinsteiger. After being a guest in the first books by Neureuther (36) aka Fuchs Ixi as Husky Basti, this time both are the main protagonists. There are also animal guest appearances by Schweinsteiger's former FC Bayern teammates David Alaba and Arjen Robben, national coach Joachim Löw and reporter legend Gerd Rubenbauer.
"Felix Neureuther and Bastian Schweinsteiger know that children with the ball on their feet also learn for life," wrote Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU), who contributed a foreword to the book. "Because - regardless of the situation - it's best to work together."
The proceeds of the book of ex-professionals, who have been friends since childhood, go to charitable organizations.
