Rostock (dpa) - The SV Waldhof Mannheim has kept its ambitions with a win in the promotion fight of the 3rd football league.
On the Baltic Sea, the Mannheimers prevailed 1-0 (0-0). Thanks to the converted penalty by Arianit Ferati (85th minute), the Waldhöfer have been undefeated in a foreign place for over two years. The newcomer, with 47 points, now shares second place with SpVgg Unterhaching, which is tied and goal-equal. Leader MSV Duisburg also has 47 points. The top trio and the table eleven Hansa Rostock are only five points apart after the 29th matchday.
Unterhaching had the opportunity to temporarily displace the MSV from the top. In the Upper Bavarian derby, however, the home side were defeated by FC Ingolstadt 1: 2 (1: 1). With the victory, the Schanzer jumped to fourth place.
In addition to Mannheim, 1. FC Magdeburg was one of the critics of the restart after the Corona forced break. The second division relegated team got the upper hand with the Würzburg Kickers 1-0 (1-0). While the team from Saxony-Anhalt managed to get some air in the basement with their first away win in the calendar year, the Lower Franconia in front of empty ranks missed the temporary jump to the promotional place for advancement. After a corner kick, FCM captain Tobias Müller scored the winning goal (38th minute).
In a duel between two pursuers, KFC Uerdingen and SV Meppen split goalless. If they won, either team could have jumped to third place.
It is also exciting at the other end of the classification. Viktoria Köln prevailed at home 3: 0 (0: 0) against the direct competitor FSV Zwickau. Cologne's Pavel Dotchev, who has been the third division's record coach since last weekend, celebrated his 100th victory in this division at the Höhenberg sports park. The cathedral townspeople were supported by their fans, who cheered in a drive-in cinema.
