(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 08 - The countdown is running out: on Thursday 11 June, after three months of lockdown, the PGA Golf Tour will start again from Fort Worth (Texas) with the Charles Schwab Challenge.
In the first post-pandemic event, staged behind closed doors at the Colonial Country Club, we will immediately start again with a bang. The world leader, Rory McIlroy, will play the first two opening rounds with Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, respectively in second and third place in the ranking.
For McIlroy it will be the absolute debut in the tournament. While Rahm is expected to appear for the fourth appearance. For the Spaniard, the spoils are two Top 5 with a second place in 2017. Silver medal won in the 2018 edition of the event also by Koepka, at the first and only shot.
Stellar draws in Texas where 16 of the 20 best players in the world will be on the field. Olympic champion Justin Rose at the Rio 2016 Games will play the opening rounds of the show alongside Americans Dustin Johnson (former golf king) and Bryson DeChambeau. While Phil Mickelson will have alongside Kevin Na (defending champion) and Gary Woodland, winner of the US Open 2019.
Waiting also for Justin Thomas, who will duel with his friend Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler, for a trio full of stars and stripes. (HANDLE).
