Similar to higher leagues, a LAG also proposes a league cup for the district league teams. A total of five direct promotion or non-promotion places are played.

District - On Sunday morning, the sub-working group "District playing class men" of the solution working group (LAG) "Match operation league and cup adults" dealt intensively with the further structuring of the currently interrupted season. In addition to the continuation of the points round - if permitted by state regulations - from September 1, there is now another proposal on the table: the League Cup.

An "intensive and goal-oriented discussion", according to the BFV announcement, resulted in a concrete proposal that all LAG employees support and which should now be introduced to all Bavarian district league teams.

The LAG's recommendation - like the regional, Bavarian and regional leagues - provides for an additional league cup competition with preliminary, intermediate and final rounds for each district league, which is held during the game-free times of league play and should offer additional sporting incentives.

LAG: Five direct promotion places

In each district, the respective League Cup winners also play out a district winner, who then fights with the six other district winners in a relegation round for a total of five direct promotion places in the regional league.

The additional competition has no influence on the results of the regular season. Should a team make it through the league cup that has already made it into the national league via the league, a successor principle applies. If a team that would be relegated via the league emerges from the league cup as promoted, they will keep the class as a reward.

Yolk soft: that's all we wanted!

"We want a competition with high sporting value and lots of games with a derby character that can be designed flexibly at the same time. The League Cup has it all! Of course, the competition is not a complete replacement for a regular season, we are aware of that. However, we are in an exceptional situation - and we have to make the best of it, ”explained Michael Tittmann, who led the sub-working group as a member of the association game committee.

“In my view, a league cup as an additional competition makes a lot of sense. Precisely because it offers a high sporting incentive for all clubs: Teams that are currently fighting for relegation have another chance of staying in the league. And teams in the middle of the table can even move up this way. In addition, we remain flexible with regard to the further development of the pandemic, ”said Alois Wittenzellner from SpVgg Ruhmannsfelden (Lower Bavaria). Oliver Dotterweich from 1. FC Oberhaid (Upper Franconia) added: “This is all we wanted! The league cup competition we proposed covers everything: a high level of sporting value and lots of games. ”

If the League Cup is approved by the 15 Bavarian district league teams, the next step is to discuss the content and schedule of the event. ez / hw
