Atletico Madrid defeated Real Mallorca 3-0, in La Liga, to move steadily towards a Champions League qualification next season.
Alvaro Morata Atlético put the lead ahead in the 29th minute with a penalty kick, then Murata doubled the score to the home side in stoppage time for the first half, then boosted midfielder Koki, scoring the third goal in the 79th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area.
With this result, Atletico scored 62 points from 34 games in third place, five points behind fourth-placed Sevilla and eight from fifth-placed Villarreal, both of whom played 33 games.
Real Mallorca's chances of surviving the landing became slim, as it remained 18th with 29 points from 34 games, five points behind 17th-ranked Celta Vigo, who played less.
