Of all the players who ran on the grass yesterday in the opening training session of Betar Jerusalem in Beit Vagan, one particularly familiar face was missing - that of veteran stopper Tal Ben Haim, who at this stage does not seem to be continuing in the team.
Where do things stand now? Professional director Yossi Benyon recently spoke with Ben Haim about his future. The brakeman was explained that the team is not building on him professionally, and that if there are second-tier teams interested in signing him, it is better for him to sign there and get the stage. In addition, owner Moshe Hogg is not interested in leaving the brake, mainly for economic reasons.
Ben-Haim may return to practice with Betar in the coming days even though he has no contract, because the team appreciates him and remembers that he gave up his salary in June. That at the moment the odds are not in his favor.
Asked if there was a chance that Ben Haim would stay in Betar in the end or that the tide in his case had already fallen, a source in Betar replied: "We want to bring in a senior brake, so at the moment chances are that Tal will not continue. "And he may see the situation with Uriel Degani, who is not moving at all, and knows that bringing in a foreign brake will not be easy for us, and then maybe he will have the option to stay. It may be better for him to wait a bit."
At the same time, Ben Haim's agents are examining options for him from other teams in the league, and inquiries have been made against Maccabi Netanya and Bnei Yehuda. The retirement option is in last place, but it is also considered. "We hope things will move in the coming days," said the actor's entourage.
