Faced with the threat of a return to closed doors in stadiums in the event of non-compliance with health instructions, the National Association of Supporters (ANS) called on Tuesday to continue “substantive” discussions on the issue, judging “ rushed ”to have reopened the enclosures in mid-July.

"The public authorities have chosen a hasty reopening of the stadiums, with reception conditions (...) incompatible with the culture of our stands," lamented the National Association of Supporters (ANS) in a press release. , denouncing a "sterile controversy" about the non-respect of barrier gestures by some supporters during a friendly match of Paris SG on Friday.

The meeting between PSG and Waasland-Beveren marked the return of supporters to the Parc des Princes four months after the end of the competition, with a limit of 5,000 people in accordance with the instructions of the authorities. But the lack of social distancing in the turns during the match has sparked outrage from several players in French sport, as clubs and leagues plead for the return of a larger audience.

This controversy prompted the Minister for Sports Roxana Maracineanu to brandish the threat of a return to closed doors on Monday, "if the measures intended to combat the spread of the virus are not respected". "What we observed at the Stade Océane, the Parc des Princes or the Parc OL is in all respects similar with the lapses observed in the Parisian bars, on the Promenade des Anglais (in Nice) or the places of the Atlantic" , argued the ANS.

"Far from pressing for a rapid return to the stadiums, the groups of supporters have never ceased to call for caution and pragmatism," she recalled.

For the ANS, it is above all urgent to resume the work of consultations and expertises launched after the early end of the Ligue 1 season at the end of April, in order to prepare for the new season, which is due to start on the weekend of 23 August.

"We are still awaiting feedback on the matches organized since July 11, in order to draw the essential lessons for the resumption of the championships", continues the Association of supporters, renewing its "request for" a pragmatic, transparent and consensual approach to the issue of returning to the forum ”. On July 12, Ms. Maracineanu had mentioned "a review clause in mid-July" to study the possibility of increasing the number of spectators admitted to the stadiums, an option which must still be examined by the executive.
