Olympique de Marseille will not face Montpellier Hérault before the resumption of the Ligue 1 championship. After tests carried out on the entire Montpellier workforce, a player is suspected of being contaminated by Covid-19. The presidents of Montpellier, Laurent Nicollin, and Marseille, Jacques-Henri Eyraud, took the decision, Tuesday, August 4 in the morning, to cancel the meeting initially scheduled at the Stade Vélodrome on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
"As a measure of health precautions, Olympique de Marseille and Montpellier Hérault Sport Club have decided, with regret, to cancel the friendly match scheduled for this Wednesday, August 5," wrote OM in a press release. "Supporters who have already purchased tickets for this match will be fully reimbursed," continues the club.

The player in question must take a new test on Friday to confirm this possible contamination. The previous week, the MHSC played a friendly match against Strasbourg (lost 2-1). A few days later, the Alsatian club announced that five of its players had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Before their first Ligue 1 match against Saint-Etienne, OM will face Nîmes on Sunday August 9th and German club Stuttgart on Friday August 14th. For its part, Montpellier must play Saturday at Millau against Clermont (L2), before moving on Friday 14 to Rodez (L2).
