PSG: Neymar and Bernat's yellow cards erased before facing Atalanta

UEFA announced on Tuesday to reset the card counters to zero before the "Final 8" of the Champions League. But Di Maria, already suspended

Neymar and Juan Bernat can be relieved. The two Parisian players, who received a yellow card in the second leg against Dortmund (2-0), risked missing a possible Champions League semi-final if they had received a yellow card against Atalanta Bergamo, the August 12th. UEFA announced on Tuesday that the record of players informed and engaged in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the Europa League will be blank, the yellow cards received being canceled at the end of the knockout stages and not more quarters.

The Executive Committee of the body decided "to anticipate the cancellation of all yellow cards received by the players and the staff at the end of the round of 16 instead of the quarter-finals, that is to say two games before the final ”.

Four Atalanta players spared

A novelty that especially suits Atalanta Bergamo. Hans Hateboer, Remo Freuler, Marten de Roon and Berat Djimisti were under threat of suspension in the semi-finals in the event of another yellow card against PSG. Gian Piero Gasperini's men will therefore be able to play with a peaceful mind in this historic quarter-final for the “Dea”.

Angel Di Maria, under the threat of a suspension during the return to Dortmund, had received a yellow card at the very end of the match, already depriving him of the quarter-final against Bergamo. The Argentine player is therefore not affected by the modification of the regulations against Atalanta and will therefore not be on the pitch with his teammates on August 12 at the Luz stadium.
