Edmonton (AP) ice hockey goalie Philipp Grubauer missed the top starting position for the NHL playoffs with his Colorado Avalanche. Against the Vegas Golden Nights there was a 3: 4 after extra time.
Grubauer conceded the last goal 16 seconds before the end with a hard shot over the shoulder of Alex Tuch, a total of 22 attempts. The Avalanche are therefore behind the team from Las Vegas in second place on the seed list in the Western Conference and meet the Arizona Coyotes in the playoffs. They had previously prevailed against the Nashville Predators around Korbinian Holzer.
Because Nico Sturm with the Minnesota Wild and, surprisingly, Leon Draisaitl with the Edmonton Oilers are also eliminated, four professionals from Germany still have the chance to win the title in the world's strongest ice hockey league. Tobias Rieder with the Calgary Flames is represented in the first round of the playoffs, as is Grubauer with the Avalanche and Tom Kühnackl and Thomas Greiss with the New York Islanders.
