ASV Habach held up well against the regional division FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The players keep up with the preparation.

Habach - The terrace of the sports home is orphaned, no fans loudly supporting their team. Anyone who happened to pass by the Habacher sports ground on Friday evening would probably not have recognized that a top-class opponent was visiting the ASV, who would have interested a crowd in the three-digit range in normal times. However, the Corona requirements meant that the Habachers had to complete their first test after a five-month break against the national division 1. FC Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a ghost game. “It's a shame, but that's the way the rules are,” stated ASV coach Jürgen Staiger after his team, which had been weakened as a substitute, wrested a 2: 2 (1: 1) draw from the favorites.

Heckmeier: I only want to get really well again after knee surgery

“Our goal was to make the rooms narrow and to put needle pricks. We managed that well, ”said Staiger, who had to do without the vacationers Maximilian Feigl and Maximilian Nebl, the injured Maximilian Gerg and the driver Benedikt Heckmeier. The ASV captain underwent knee surgery five weeks ago in order to get a grip on the symptoms he had had since last season. “I only want to get really well again now. I won't play again this year, ”said Heckmeier, who followed the game with a few onlookers from outside the club's premises.

Staiger: The guys did a great job

Otherwise everything went exemplary for the Habachers in terms of “Corona rules”. The way to the cabins was signposted. The substitutes sat on the edge of the field at an appropriate distance. The coach always had his mouthguard at hand and club boss Jürgen Heckmeier, who was a line judge like in a regular league game, even provided his office with a face mask for the entire season. Staiger had nothing to complain about in the preparation so far. “We trained once a week from the end of May and then twice later. We mainly practiced technique and passing and did everything with the ball, ”said Staiger. “The boys did a great job,” said the ASV coach.

Staiger: Young players "gave everything"

There was also little to complain about in the performance against the Garmisch-Partenkirchen team - even though some young people like Moritz Off or Severin Annaberger had to play due to the gaps in the squad. “They gave everything,” said Staiger, whose team took the lead after half an hour through Felix Habersetzer, who wore the captain's armband for Heckmeier. Moritz Müller from Oberhausen in the guests' jersey equalized a little later with a remarkable overhead kick (34th).

In the second half, the Werdenfelsers, who had significantly more alternatives in terms of personnel, were clearly overweight. Nevertheless, the home side took the lead again through Tobias Habersetzer (78th). The ASV did not bring the lead to the finish line. With the last action Jonas Poniewaz managed to equalize (90th) for Werdenfels. ( rh )
