Maranello (dpa) - Ferrari wants to protest against the decision of the rulers in the permanent Zoff at Racing Point. That explained the Italian racing team.
In addition to the Scuderia, McLaren, Renault and Williams also announced last weekend on the sidelines of the anniversary race for the 70-year-old Formula 1 at Silverstone that they would take action against the judgment.
The stewards of the International Automobile Association had punished Racing Point with the deduction of 15 World Championship points and a fine of 400,000 euros. They had discovered a rule violation in the rear brake shafts of the racing car.
The design process for these components is illegal because certain components have to be designed by the teams themselves without the help of a competitor, it said.
The racing team concerned admitted that it had bought brake ventilation systems from its partner Mercedes in 2019. When these components were added to a list in 2020 after a rule change that stipulates which components must be the teams' own contributions, they were not used. Nevertheless, the knowledge and information flowed into the components. The brake shafts remain in use at Racing Point.
