The defending champion's curse in snooker has struck again: World champion Judd Trump could not break the rule and already said goodbye in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Defending champion Judd Trump surprisingly failed in the quarterfinals of the Snooker World Cup in Sheffield. The English world number one had to admit defeat to his compatriot Kyren Wilson 9:13. The "Crucible Theater curse" struck again: a player has never successfully defended his title in the year after his first World Cup triumph.

The 30-year-old Trump went into the second part of the game with a 6:10 deficit the day before after a weak performance. There, however, he did not make the comeback he had hoped for, and Wilson moved into a World Cup semi-final for the second time since 2018.
