Barcelona (dpa) - The French Renault works team also wants to take action against the stewards' judgment in the dispute over copied parts from rival Racing Point. Two Formula 1 teams have already submitted their intention to protest to the International Automobile Association.

Ferrari also confirmed that it did not want to accept the decision, according to which 15 World Championship points were deducted from Racing Point and the team had to pay a fine of 400,000 euros, but was allowed to continue to use the affected rear brake shafts of the racing car despite the rule breach.

McLaren, which had also initially considered a protest, does not want to appeal the verdict. One will follow the further procedure with interest, it said. Williams will also do without. The team confirmed this in a brief statement before the 96-hour deadline.

The copy dispute is about the fact that certain components on the racing cars have to be designed and developed by the teams themselves. However, the Racing Point team is accused by many of being more or less a copy of the Mercedes from last season - the German car manufacturer is Racing Point's drive partner.

The team itself also admitted to having bought brake ventilation from Mercedes in 2019. When these components were added to the corresponding list in 2020 as part of a rule change, they were not used. Nevertheless, the knowledge and information flowed into the components.
