The Athletic website reports that Maccabi Tel Aviv's coach for the past two seasons, Vladan Ivic, has been appointed Watford's new coach for the next two years. The Serbian coach, who has won two Israeli championships with Maccabi Tel Aviv, has been negotiating with the Wasps in recent weeks, and is expected to start a new career at the club that was relegated last season from the Premier League to the English Championship.

Ivica will step into the shoes of Nigel Pearson, who finished his way after the dramatic league relegation. He will be the club's fourth head coach in a year, after Xavi Gracia, Kika Sanchez Flores and Pearson. In the past, the team was coached by two other coaches who moved to Kiryat Shalom - Selvisha Yukanovich and Oscar Garcia.

Ivica started his coaching career in the 2013 season, then coached the Greek team of the Greek PAOK Thessaloniki and won the championship with it. In March 2016 Ivica received the keys to the club's senior team, and in the 2016/17 season won the Greek Cup with it. In May 2018, he signed as the coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, and together with him, the team won two Israeli championships, during which time the Yellows recorded only two league losses in two seasons.
