Almost six years after the official signing, he is back. "He is leaving us now for Real Madrid, but we will never forget everything he did here in a memorable season. His goals, his football, his personality, effort and modesty have left a mark on us all."
The 21-year-old talent, who had previously also played on loan at Dutch side Vitesse and Heerenveen, scored seven goals and netted another nine in 36 games for Real Sociedad, helping them qualify for the Cup final and finish in sixth place equaling a ticket to the Europa League.
As for Real, who are unlikely to make a purchase in the current window, this is a reinforcement player for anything that comes after a great season. He has also gained experience in the league and is still young of course (only 21 years old). His return, which does not cost a single euro club, will allow the sale of other connections and the introduction of cash at the box office, perhaps in preparation for a huge signing in the window of January or next summer.
In addition, Zidane has coached Edgor in 25 games on the reserve team and knows him well. He has been following his progress and is convinced he can make the leap, similar to what Federico Valverda did upon returning from the question.
