RMC star consultant, Di Méco will skip over if PSG play in Champions League final

2020-08-13T17:28:04.976Z

LE SCAN SPORT - The 1993 European champion and former defender of OM and AS Monaco, now a consultant for the RMC group, will not comment on the Champions League final if Paris-SG qualify.

He commented at the microphone of RMC Sport  this totally crazy quarter-final between Atalanta Bergamo and PSG won in added time by the Parisians (2-1). As often very professional and clear in his comments, Eric Di Méco, 56, has already warned that he would not comment on the Champions League final if PSG were to qualify. An astonishing decision on the part of the former OM player (from 1980 to 1994) but also of AS Monaco who will once again be commenting for the semi-final of this C1 next Tuesday between PSG and winner of RB Leipzig-Atlético Madrid match.

According to L'Equipe , it is the former winner of the 1993 Champions League with Olympique de Marseille who asked his management not to comment on the final scheduled on  RMC Sport on August 23 (also in clear on TF1 with the Margotton-Lizarazu duo) if Paris disputes it. Di Méco would therefore consider that he is not in the best position to provide comments on a potentially historic match for the Parisian club, which is just blowing its 50th birthday this year. A reminiscence of the very hot evenings between the PSG and the OM of the Tapie- Canal +  years at the beginning of the 90s of which he was an often determining actor? We do not hope so, even if Eric Di Méco, born in Vaucluse and living in Marseille, is strongly linked, at least by history, to the Marseille club ...

Rothen to compensate for the possible package

To compensate for this still hypothetical package, the management of RMC Sport plans to entrust the consultant microphone for this final to Jérôme Rothen who, for once, is very marked PSG. The other consultant of the chain, 42, born in the Paris region, has in fact never concealed his love for the capital club, whose jersey he wore between 2004 and 2010.
