After recovering from Corona, Novak Djokovic will compete in the United States Open. The world number one announced his decision today (Thursday) on his official website, saying he was excited to play, acknowledging the obstacles and challenges of holding the Grand Slam tournament during the Corona plague.
"I am aware that this time it will be very different, with all the protocols and safety measures taken to protect the players and the residents of New York," the Serb wrote. "I'm done all the tests I need to do to make sure I'm fully recovered, and I'm ready to go back to the court - fully committed to playing my best tennis."
In addition, Djokovic said he would compete with the Cincinnati Masters, to be held in New York starting Aug. 22. The U.S. Open is scheduled to begin Aug. 31. To that end, Nola plans to fly to the U.S. next Saturday.
As you may recall, many senior players, including world number two Rafael Nadal and first-place finisher Ashley Barty, have announced they will not be taking part in the US Grand Slam tournament due to fears of the Corona.
